Forza Horizon 4 takes us to Great Britain. This is a large variation from earlier Australia. However, you do not have to be afraid that setting the action in such a region will make the virtual world less diverse. We have towns and villages here, as well as forests and hills, which are perfect for off-road racing. There are many locations and they provide a wide range of attractions. So we find here, among others classic closed circuit driving, sprints from A to B, and off-road racing. The show competitions I love are also returning, where we will compete, among others with a hovercraft or a train. The race against the huge steel colossus to the beat of the Gallows of Valkyries is remembered long after the game is turned off.
Of course, that’s not all Forza Horizon 4 has to offer. The creators made sure that their production would provide fun for at least several dozen hours. There is no shortage of hidden boards to break, car wrecks to be found and viewpoints. And none of these “collectibles” is just an empty activity that artificially extends the fun. Boards provide us with influence points and unlock fast travel, viewpoints are also a source of valuable influence, and vehicle wrecks allow us to expand our virtual garage with more cars.
And if someone was still not enough, then everything is also very extensive personalization of vehicles and our driver. The cars can be tuned, and a number of modifiable options have been put back in our hands. There are also options to change the paintwork – and although my artistic talent does not allow me to create too exciting creations, the ones created by other players are already impressive. I especially like paintings inspired by other works of pop culture – incl. Jurassic Park or Rick and Mury. The possibilities are huge, so everyone will be able to adjust their vehicle to their own expectations.
The biggest news promoted at the show and pre-release trailers are the changing seasons of the year, at first it might seem like a minor element that will primarily affect the visuals of the game, but it is not. The way the world looks like does indeed change, but so does road conditions. In autumn and spring we struggle with rainfall, in winter we have to watch out for snow, but we also get the opportunity to ride on frozen lakes. The seasons change relatively quickly here and have been linked to our progress in the game, making it hard to get bored.
