SnowRunner Premium Edition Game Account Xbox One / Series X
SnowRunner is the sequel to Spintires: MudRunner, a game that luckily changed its name and is now known simply as MudRunner. The latest simulator focuses on traversing different types of terrain with trucks of various shapes and sizes. As the name suggests, in production, the mud gave way to snow, but despite such a big change, we had a lot of fun riding the icy plains.
Everything in this series is all about precision driving and achieving your goals that span across huge maps, and choosing the right vehicle for the right job. It’s about navigating slowly through rough terrain full of muddy trails and brush, and now snowy landscapes as well.
We started playing SnowRunner with a snowless map, very similar to the one we saw in last year’s installment, which was a bit disappointing, but later we missed the blue views. The first level is a tutorial that teaches the mechanic how to control the camera and steering wheel. Thus, we spent the first few hours driving through the muddy forest.
Fortunately, the tutorial is concise and well-designed, especially for players who are taking their first steps in the genre. It teaches subtle things, such as how and why you should switch between low gears or four-wheel drive. After driving a pickup truck, we get into the second, much larger truck. Then we attach a trailer full of wood and metal needed to build the bridge, which in turn will open a new part of the map. It all works really impressively.
It all sounds simple enough, doesn’t it? We transport deliveries, pick up parcels and take them to new locations. Basically that’s what it is. The challenge, however, is to equip the vehicle and adapt it to different types of terrain.
Getting stuck in the mud can turn out to be one of the most intense battles you have fought in a long time. An inattentive player can get stuck so deep that it is impossible to get back on the road. Fortunately, you can either reset your vehicle and go back to your starting point, or drive another truck to it and use it to tow.
